The Potato Heads: Introduction

I've decided that I want to document our story in a bit more detail. I kind of summed it up in an earlier post, but I have been remembering things I wanted to write down for our records. Maybe someday my kids will want to read the WHOLE thing. Or maybe an author will think our story is awesome and will pick it up and dramatize it and write a book about it. Because that would be awesome!!

Here is the post I wrote the morning after Jaren asked me to marry him. I had posted it on myspace because that was the only "blog" I had back then. So I re-posted it this summer before I had very many readers.

Some of you may not be interested. It' s okay if you don't want to read or comment. It is just something that will be fun for me and make me happy.

I hope you all do enjoy it, though. I kind of think our story is a little interesting. I'm going to be pretty honest throughout and I'll get feedback from Jaren because his side is a little unknown to me. We felt opposite towards each other for a while. Anyway, you can read the "shortened" version and decide if you want to hear more. Or not!

I am also going to post a picture from our wedding and tell about it. Most of them will be bloopers. Or funny to me.

This one was taken after the ceremony at the Salt Lake Temple at the little pond thingy in between the Joseph Smith Memorial building and the Temple. Our photographer was on the other side and we couldn't hear him. He wanted us to just walk around the side. We both were like, "WHAT?!" "HUH?!" "YOU WANT ME TO DO WHAT?!" If you click on the picture you can see it a bit clearer. Our faces are priceless. Oh.. and did I mention I LOVED my dress. Even though I still haven't had it cleaned since that day.. oopse!

That story was so sweet. I always enjoy hearing about how people meet and how things all worked out for them. It makes me just wonder when and where I'll meet the guy I'm going to marry (not in the near future, hopefully....I'm still way young...just when it happens eventually in life, I guess).

I liked the pic, too. :) Haha.

That is SUCH a cute story!! What an awesome guy you found. Definitely a keeper!! There needs to be more guys like him in the world. Sadly I learned through my dating experiences...they are a rare breed! I feel lucky to found the one I did as well. It took me a little longer to find him though, because of all the scuzzies I had to wade through first.

I don't have my dress anymore. I sold it back a couple of weeks later. I really wish I had done Trash the Dress pictures with it.

Okay I now officially think Jaren rocks. I mean, he had me when he picked my story...I was like cool guy...but he rocks now. I went back and read that post about how you met. It is SUCH a good story (and maybe it is just me, but I would LOVE to hear Jaren's take on it!!), man you almost passed over him for CRUISE Boy!! That was a close call...and he was still willing to be friends!! That is so sweet! You have a special guy there Whit, he sounds like the kind of boy a Mom dreams of her daughter marrying!! Yay Jaren!! *high fives*

I read it Whitney, every word. And now I have goosebumps. Such a sweet story.
I have a draft waiting to be finished of my love story. Now I don't want to publish it, it's not as cute as yours.

WOw what a story! I don't know many guys that would have been that patient. And to be there supporting you when the cruise boy thing didn't work out?! That's amazing!

I agree with WendyBurd...you should have Jaren do a post of his version. Not just for our entertainment but for future generations.

Well I loved this post. Yea for true love and happy marriages. :)

Thanks guys! I think everyone will come to realize why Jaren is so amazing during the future posts. My dad even told me that if he were dating me he would have dropped me along time ago (when I was living home before I moved to Utah and he met Jaren for the first time). I was like, THANKS dad! I really must be a CATCH!

Mary, I want to hear yours! I know it's going to be sweet and cute because you were his TEACHER! Can't get more fun than that.

Kristina - I WISH I had trashed the dress as well. I should have worked that out with my photog for when I got back from the honeymoon and other reception. I think I'll always wish I did.

And I'll see if Jaren will give me his take on it. I hope he will! He claims he remembers EVERYTHING but when I ask him specific details he sometimes doesn't answer. lol. We'll see how it goes.

Wait! You got married in the SL temple on April 6th? What time? You do realize my daughter got married there last year too, same day. I honestly can't remember what time the wedding was at.. I was so overstressed, it was unbelievable. In the morning sometime. Weird.

That is the sweetest story. Love, true love. He really showed you he has a loyal heart. I like him even more now!

I read it. What a great story. When I go back to that time in my life (which was 11+ years ago) I get giddy just thinking about it. How sweet!

How fun! That is so cute.

That spot where you're standing in the picture is where I was standing on my wedding day (except I was alone). Que went to go get the car but my mom had left for the reception center already and she accidently took our parking tokens. So I stood there. And stood there. And stood there. In my wedding dress. All alone. For like 40 minutes. Tourists were staring at me. People were asking me if I lost my groom. I even tried to pretend I was with a group of people so other people wouldn't stare. And then when Que finally got the car out of the parking garage, we got pulled over and got a ticket in South Jordan. It was our first wedding present.

Very sweet! It's always interesting to me to hear how couples came to be. Mine and my husbands's story involves me being a stalker!

Such a great story. I need to write mine down too. My husband and I have so many little things we want to remember about our courtship, and I'm afraid we're already losing a lot of them...

Don't be surprised if I copy your post idea...sorry I'm unoriginal. :)

Hi I'm tangled-me's daughter in florida. She told me you had a great falling in love story so I had to come read it. Don't know if you like this genre of music, but your story reminded me of a song by Chris Rice, when did you fall. So perfect.
