I have been a slave to the baby for the last month. And my desire to get on the computer or blog has gone out the window with my sleep. I'm going to try to get back in the swing of things.
My life has been rather uneventful since I stay at home all day. In the last week my desire to get out has been rather strong. I'm feeling better, but am still quite sore, but I want to start walking. If only I can find the time. I'm hoping I can make the time - put the nugget in her bouncer and go walk on the treadmill. I think I'll try soon. Like tomorrow. The weight is coming off, but SO SLOWLY. Like 2-3 pounds a week and I want it to go MUCH faster since I still have like 20 pounds to go. So, exercise is my only option since dieting is out of the question.
Another issue? Showering. I can't leave her by herself for more than 5 minutes because she starts to cough or choke (she has reflux) and it scares me to death. That and she is too young/small for me to feel comfortable leaving her out in the house by herself.
So, I have to wait till Jaren is around and so far, we've managed a good every other day thing. It's not enough for me.... but it's ok. But today? Today is day number 3.... I feel like I stink and it feels so gross. Jaren is at church right this second but when he get's home he is watching the wee one and I'm going to shower. For a good hour or so.
When did you feel comfortable enough to leave your baby out by her/himself while you showered?

you should just put her in a bouncy seat or something and bring it in the bathroom while you shower. I don't know if I would leave her in a completely different room. And the choking, coughing thing...you'll get used to it. She knows how to clear her throat and there really isn't much to be scared about. Whitley would do it even while she was sleeping and I figured it was better to let her cough it out rather than me wake her up and pick her up to help her cuz hopefully you won't be right next to her sleeping for too much longer :)It's scary but not much you can really do either. Good luck and get some sleep! p.s. I still don't shower very oftern :) lol
I didn't feel comfortable for awhile so I would put my baby in the carseat and set the carseat on the toilet so that I would still be able to see him while I showered.
I agree. I always put baby in a bouncy seat or car seat and take them into the bathroom with me. I even had a see through shower curtain so I could see the baby with my first. lol.
I also put my daughter in the bouncy seat in the bathroom. She is 8 months old now and if she goes down for a nap I will shower now but otherwise I still bring her in the bathroom and let her play with toys on the ground while I shower. Those first few months are hard, you always feel dirty and exhausted. It will continue to get better though.
Yeah, it's 430 and I just showered. I wait until Syd is asleep then I take the baby monitor in the bathroom so I can hear every little noise she makes. I think the bouncy seat in the bathroom is a good idea too. But Sydney does not have reflux, so I can understand your concern, that would be scary to worry about, good luck!
I dont know what everyone else said, but when Wyatt was first born I just showered with the door open and sat him in the swing in our room and left the door open so I could hear him. Now I shower either when he is sleeping of I let him run around the house and I take a VERY fast shower. Sometimes I get a little scared with him running around by himself, but I make sure the doors are locked and I shower FAST (I already said that) You really have to do what works for you.
I did the car seat thing or tried to do it while she slept baby's love bathroom fans anyway. But I remember being so dirty because I would wait for Jon to come home at the beginning, I'm sorry it will get better (actually you'll just become more comfortable).
Bring her in the bathroom with you, you can unchoke or gag her her and continue on showering peeking at her as much as you want.
yup, I would bring the baby in the bathroom with me. the sound of the shower can be soothing, and they can still hear your voice.
Well G didn't have the relux issue, so usually, I just put her in the swing or showered while she napped in her cradle. And I did this as soon as I had the desire and energy to shower, I wont disclose how long that was... It's embarrassing. But it's all about your comfort. I seems in your situation easiest when J is around because then at least you can shower in peace.
Oh and about getting out. I found when G was between 1 and 4 or so months- those were the easiest times to take her out for errands and such, she seemed less needy. haha less needy. Ahhh that makes me laugh.Hope all is well!!
When I had Josh I would drag the bouncy seat into the bathroom and put Josh in it, just outside the tub, that way he was in the room with me and i could peek out at him when I was showering. It made me feel a lot more relaxed about him. With Claire I did the same thing, but I would also put a movie on for Josh while I showered and kept the door open so I could hear him. Now with Wyatt I will put Wyatt in his little bassinet on wheels and roll it into the guest room, closing the door with a child lock door handle thing so Claire can't get to him, then I'll either take her into the shower with me (she loves playing in the shower water), or put on a video for her. I don't worry about Josh anymore.... he's pretty independent.
I will just second everyone's comments. I take the bouncy seat in the bathroom and shower with them in there. Both of my kids LOVE the sound of the shower so they usually would just fall asleep. I still don't like showering with CAmbree running around. So I usually do it while she is sleeping and bring Bridger in to the bathroom with me. Or I will put on cartoons for Cambree now and shower. I still don't get a shower everyday though. And sometimes not even until DAvid comes home. The other day the shower was on my list but it kept getting pushed further down as things would come up. like crying kids, poopy diapers, hungry kids, switching laundry, you get the idea. Good Luck, you will definitely get more comfortable with her noises and her reflux though. Bridger makes this noise that sounds like he is gasping for some serious air, But I have gotten use to it and don't jump up everytime I hear it anymore.
Being a mom can be pretty stressful sometimes and bring lots of worry, just pray a lot and trust your gut and you will do great! glad to see a new post though!
I also do the bouncer in the bathroom thing. If he is down for a nap, I know I have some more time so I bring the monitor in with me, but if he's awake I just bring him in the bathroom in his bouncer.
I am with you, I can't leave a tiny baby by themselves while I shower either. I did what everyone else said, put them in a seat while I showered if I couldn't do it while the man was home.
Your first baby makes you feel like you have been consumed, eaten alive, body and soul. It gets better, but very slowly. The next time isn't so hard. The first one is tough.
